The Alabama Performance Excellence Program is the successor organization to the Alabama Quality Award which was formed in 1986 as the Alabama U.S. Senate Productivity Award. From its inception through 2011, it was administered by the Alabama Productivity Center in the Culverhouse College of Business at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
The program was discontinued by the Alabama Productivity Center in 2011. Recently through the efforts of the UAB Schools of Business, Engineering and Health Professions, the program was re-established. The organization now operates as the Alabama Performance Excellence Program.
